There’s a new favourite I’m adding to my list of best restaurants in Hackney: Shane’s On Canalside. I very much love the canal vibe by Hackney Wick and I’m so glad I’m still discovering new gems in that area. The atmosphere inside Shane’s On Canalside is warm and informal even though the restaurant is very spacious. The attention to details are everywhere and for some reason I felt like I was somewhere far from London. Immediately, I loved the colours’ contrast of the interior and the daylight penetrating the space. I’ve met Shane and his passion towards his new restaurant was contagious. He explained to me how he locally sourced the wooden and concrete tailor-made furniture and how he strived to create a strong connection with the outside and the inside. Another beautiful detail are the huge white tiles masking the walls. These are sourced from the US and have been hand-sanded by Shane; I couldn’t believe it when I heard it! Shane is the founder and creative director of this restaurant and brought inspiration of his favourite places to it: London, New York and New Zealand. Stay tuned as a season of events are fast approaching Shane’s On Canalside ranging from Gin tasting and a New and Old World wine tasting. Can’t wait to see you there guys!
Love xx
